Altrincham Kersal, buoyant from last week's magnificent 33-31 battle at Waterloo, where in the last 10 minutes proved they definitely have the potential required to establish a positive and strong foothold on the league in the early stages, and with this victory still running through the minds of the team, they ran out onto Stelfox turf pumped and ready to do business with our local adversaries Wilmslow.
For the first 10 minutes it was all AK, strong driving mauls and a resilient stubborn defence, made any attempt by the Wolves to penetrate the AK half all but impossible.
Dave Coleman, with pin point accuracy making the rush of penalty kicks awarded to AK, seem like a training session. AK's dominance seeing them continue for the first half, it was a strong and resolute AK that went into the break 9-5 up, same again next half you'd reckon?
How wrong could it be!
The Wolves pack, obviously spurred on by a tough half time pep talk, appeared to have been replaced by another team, as they came out and systematically savaged AK for the whole 40 minutes, scoring 36 points with all the action in AK's half.
AK were like rabbits in the headlights, not making any indentation on the flow of the game and by the time 20 plus points had accumulated against them, all thoughts or ideas of another stoic comeback had flown out of the window.
If ever there was a game of 2 halves, then this was it!!....where the team who thought they'd nailed it, were left well and truly licking their wounds.
Hoping to put this game well and truly behind them, AK 1XV are on the road next Saturday 16th September to Whitehaven, to face St Benedicts 3pm start,
