The Robins face a tough test at home to Alfreton Town, Written by Casey Evans.

ASHTON UNITED VS ALFRETON TOWN
DATE: TUESDAY 4th DECEMBER 2018
KO: 19:45
VENUE: Hurst Cross, Surrey Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, OL6 8DY.

Ashton United unfortunately exited the FA Trophy in the third qualifying round last time out. They were well beaten by Boston United 5-0 at home, with a brace each from Walker and Wright and another goal from Allot sealing the Robins fate. Having also fallen into the relegation places in the league, the Robins will be hoping for a win next time out against Alfreton Town to hopefully turn their fortunes around and help the team achieve their goal of staying in the National League North.
Alfreton Town are currently lying 14th in the table and have lost their last 2 games in the league, 2-1 away to Hereford and 2-1 at home to Leamington. Therefore, they will be looking to get a win to get back on track.
Jody Banim’s team will have to put past results behind them and be on top form to get a result on Tuesday night.

PLAYER TO WATCH:
The Alfreton Town player Ashton United fans should keep an eye on is English midfielder Bobby Johnson. Johnson has been in fine form this season, scoring 5 goals for the Reds. He has scored these goals in wins against teams like Southport and Kidderminster, but he also got on the scoresheet against the team currently lying in second place, Chorley.
Johnson joined Alfreton this summer from North Ferriby on a one-year deal. He had joined North Ferriby from Goole FC after he was the clubs top goal scorer and the player’s and supporter’s player of the year in the 2016/17 season.
He could be an influential player come Tuesday night, so Ashton United will need to make sure he is not able to make an impact.

OTHER FIXTURES IN FOCUS:
Other fixtures fans might want to keep on in the Vanarama National League North are:
- There is only one other match on the Tuesday, 11th placed Leamington are away at 13th placed York, in a tightly fought mid-table clash.
However, looking forward to next Saturday:
- Current league leaders Bradford are home, playing against 19th placed Southport, in what will be an interesting match.
- A derby of sorts between two Manchester based teams is also taking place, as 20th placed FC United of Manchester at home against 15th placed Curzon Ashton
- Finally, Ashton United’s previous opponents Boston United are at home to York City and the current 22nd placed team, Nuneaton Borough are away to Leamington.
