ASHTON UNITED VS FARSLEY CELTIC, PLAY-OFF SEMI-FINAL

Date: Tuesday 01/05/2018

KO: 7:45 PM

Venue: Hurst Cross, OL6 8DY

Jody Banim’s Ashton United host Farsley Celtic in the Evo-stick Premier Division play-off semi-final as the Robins look to cap off their fantastic season in style.

The Robins secured second place in the league table after a dramatic away victory against Workington on Saturday afternoon.

A late winner by Liam Tomsett sparked wild scenes in the away end as the win handed the Robins a home match for the semi-final, and the final should they come through this tie.

The Robins have had one of the best seasons ever in the club’s history and Banim is eager to go even further in a season that has been so fruitful for him and his players.

The manager has ensured that his squad kept themselves grounded throughout their promotion push and believes that they have what it takes to get through the playoff rounds.

“What we have in that dressing room is fantastic ability, alongside great determination and grit to win matches and that’s what we’ve done all season. I’m absolutely ecstatic to be here and this is one of my proudest moments ever in my management career,” said Banim.

The achievement is a huge credit to the work of everyone at the club. Before the season, you could not have even dreamt that the Robins would be in the position that they are in at the moment.

Tuesday night has the potential to be one of the greatest nights in the history of the club and will be remembered for many years to come.

The visitors come into the game with great confidence and have not lost away from home in 2018. The Robins know that their opponents are deadly on the counter-attack and that is what helped them to finish in fifth place this season.

A 3-0 win over Marine in their final league game of the season was enough for them to secure their place in this playoff semi-final matchup.

Banim has publicly praised the loyal Robins’ support home and away this season and hopes that the home faithful can be the 12th man to propel them over the line and into the playoff final on Tuesday under the floodlights.

We need everyone at the game to cheer on the Robins and hopefully, we can make it a night to remember!
