ASHTON UNITED V YORK CITY F.C.
DATE: TUESDAY 14th AUGUST 2018
KO: 19:45
VENUE: Hurst Cross, Surrey Street, Ashton-under-Lyne, Lancashire, OL6 8DY.
A late equaliser unfortunately resulted in the Robins dropping points at the weekend, drawing 3-3 away with Kidderminster Harriers F.C. Therefore, Jody Banim’s team will be hoping to pick up all three points this weekend at home to York, carrying on their strong start to the season which finds them currently 8th in the National League North.
However, York will be looking to get back on track, currently lying 17th in the table having won only 1 of their opening 3 games. The latest result being a 2-1 loss to Alfreton Town, with Macaulay Langstaff getting on the score sheet for the visitors.
ONE TO WATCH:
The York City player Ashton fans should be keeping an eye on, is forward Jon Parkin. The 36-year old scored 25 times last season for York City and played an important role the season before, scoring a well-placed header after 8 minutes in York’s 3-2 win against Macclesfield Town to lift the FA Trophy at Wembley.
The forward brings experience from throughout the football league, having played in the Championship with Stoke, Preston North End, Hull and Cardiff City. He has also played in League 2 with Fleetwood and Macclesfield Town, with who he scored a then club record 26 goals with in the 2004/2005 season.
York may turn to this experienced forward against the Robins to change their fortunes in attack, having only started on the bench so far this season.
