Management Duo Find Out About Their Players Strengths & Weaknesses

Ashton came unstuck in their latest friendly against a slick outfit from across Manchester. After a good run by Rouse for the Robins had seen his effort blocked Gorton met Rick’s corner but his header was held by the visitor’s keeper.
Road’s centre forward Henderson then produced a neat turn on the edge of the area before his effort was pushed away by Cookson, but he was not to be denied for long as Connor reached the byline and saw his cross touched home by the no.9. Henderson could have doubled his tally as he scuffed wide another Connor cross before home centre back Kerr collected a loose ball and fired narrowly wide from 20 yards.
A through ball then found Henderson outwitting the home defence before lobbing wide but immediately he was played in for a fine near post finish to give Maine Road a 2-0 half time advantage. Several changes gave Ashton more momentum after the interval and Kerr brought a fine save from the keeper from 25 yards before Madeley’s curling effort was pushed away.
Chris Baguley then brought Ashton back into the game intercepting the ball in midfield before chipping home and then a left wing cross was pushed out to Pilkington who was able to provide the equaliser.
The visitors were not to be denied however and a short corner reached Langford who curled home into the far corner and 2 minutes later Downing headed another corner home from close range to seal the victory.
