Ashton have Bulls on the run

Ashton got their second victory on the road with a clear cut win on their first visit to Hereford’s famous Edgar Street ground. With the pitch in much better condition than when Ronnie Radford scored his famous goal in 1972, Sam Sheridan was back in the Robins’ line up and Jordan Sangha was handed a full debut on loan from Walsall.
After Matty Chadwick’s dangerous cross had beaten everyone Sheridan miscontrolled a pass giving the opportunity for Harry White who over hit his pass to Jamie Bird and Jordan Lam’s square pass then found White firing over. At the other end Chadwick won a corner after 16 minutes and saw Matt Regan rise highest to head his delivery home for the opening goal and 4 minutes later Jak Hickman won another corner and after the ball reached Chadwick he cut inside before firing home a typical effort to double the visitor’s advantage.
Myrie-Williams then reached the by line for the Bulls and saw his cross cut out by a vital interception from Luke Ashworth before Lam’s cross was cleared by Aaron Chalmers. A loose ball then broke to Murphy who hammered his effort past the angle and White was denied by Luke Pilling at close range to protect the Robins’ lead. Bradley Jackson on as substitute for Dom McHale then saw a great cross just fail to be converted by Sangha at the far post but the hosts came close to reducing the arrears as Murphy’s corner was headed against the crossbar by new player-manager Ryan Green with Pilling holding Cullinane-Liburd’s follow up. There was still time in the first period for Ashton to almost register again as Jackson rounded Horsell in the home goal and saw his goal bound effort headed away by Green.
On the restart Myrie-Williams cut inside and gave Pilling a low save and Lam also shot straight at the keeper before Pilling held Myrie-Williams’ cross at full stretch as the hosts opened in determined fashion. Craig Hobson just failed to get a touch on Chadwick’s cross but was flagged offside and Hickman forced Horsell to fist away his near post effort. Hobson’s fine turn then forced a good save at the near post and a fine break saw Anghel’s pass to Hobson result in his effort being palmed away by Horsell.
