Nantwich Fall to Amadi Brace

Chris Amadi was at his spectacular best to net two late goals after coming off the bench to keep Ashton United in touch with the play off contenders.
The jet heeled forward left Hurst Cross from FC United in the summer, but marked his second coming in the best manner to lighten up a franetic game.
Aaron Burns had an early chance after getting on the end of a Matty Burke pass, but his first time shot went wide.
Nantwich’s first effort brought the best out of Paul Phillips as a corner from Nicky Platt fell to Brandon Windsor, who produced a stunning volley that was tipped over the bar by the keeper.
The Dabbers were reduced to long range efforts, a half cleared corner fell to Alex Meaney whose long range shot went over the bar and then the same player curled an effort into the hands of Phillips.
Ashton wasted a great chance to score against the run of play when Burke played an inviting ball that Scott Hogan raced onto, but his shot went wide as Jon Brain narrowed the angle in the Nantwich goal.
Brain held well from a long range effort from Michael Connors after some good build up play, Close to half time Burns played the ball into the path of Dennis Sherriff, only for his effort to go wide.
The Robins twice had the ball in the net inside the opening five minutes of the second half, only to be flagged for offside.
Ashton began to dominate the proceedings with Connors becoming increasingly involved in an attacking sense, a good run from the recent signing ended with a shot that Brain tipped wide.
Stephen Johnson did well to fashion a chance despite having three defenders around him, but his shot went wide.
Brain was tested again with Connors playing in Sherriff, but the Town custodian made a fine save.
Nantwich just couldn’t get any pressure on an Ashton defence that was well organised and whenever the Robins attacked, they looked dangerous.
Burns pass to the right wing found Hogan in space, only for his shot to go across the face of goal.
Ashton came closer when Craig Robinson headed a Burke corner across the penalty area, but Connors shot wildly over.
Amadi was brought on to replace Sherriff and took time to get involved in the game, but once he did, the Robins never looked back.
Fourteen minutes from time fellow substitute Warren Beattie produced a cross from the right, a slight touch from a Town defender looked to have evaded Amadi, but he managed to steady himself and produce a stunning shot to give Ashton the lead..
The points were wrapped up with two minutes left as Amadi took the ball from just inside the Dabbers half, his speed took him past a couple of challenges before unleashing a thunderous drive that gave Brain no chance.
Amadi almost completed his hat trick in injury time, but his fierce drive just went over the bar, but his two goals were enough to secure back to back wins for the Robins.

ASHTON: Phillips, Frost, Harrop, Connors (Beattie 75), Robinson, Moore, Hogan (Lambert 82), Burke, Burns, Sherriff (Amadi 65), Johnson.
