Avonvale RFC 1st XV vs Minety RFC 1st XV
By Josh Meagor
Vale Triumph over resilient Minety side
Although this match was switched to Vales top pitch due to standing water on the Crown field, Vale still managed to move the ball around with their backs creating havoc in the Minety Rugby Football Club defence. From the kick off Vale ran out of defence and with fly half Joe Wedgie Vowles directing his back line superbly they were soon in the Minety 22. Although Minety momentarily cleared their lines Vale came back at them and after moving the ball wide winger
Tobias Adlam crossed the line but unfortunately hurt his ankle in the move and had to be replaced.
Five minutes later 2nd row Marcus Larbelestier took a pass from Vowles on the half way line and galloped away to score under the posts with full back Steven Grant converting.
Centre
Ciaran O'Connor then went over the try line for Vale before No.8
Jack Regnard touched down from a pushover try with Grant converting. Minety had a short spell of pressure which they converted into 3 points before Vale took control again with centre
Drew Retford scoring under the posts. Grant again converting.
In the 2nd half Vale continued to run virtually everything and replacement wing Harry Cummings scored on his senior debut before Grant himself broke through to score.
Prop
Archie Dowman was rewarded for some great support play when the ball was popped up to him 5 yards out and there was no stopping him.
Scrum half
Alex Pugh was last to score for Vale adding their 9th try and with Grant adding the last three conversions.
Vale triumphed by 57 points to 3.
