Management Update

By Mike Farquharson

Manager Scott Reynolds gives us his views on the last week at Haywood Way and the upcoming games.

Another busy week as manager of the club, even at this very early stage we are making good progress and going through an important period of transition as we prepare for the new season, starting three weeks tomorrow.

Tuesdays game in my opinion could have gone either way, both teams had good chances but they caught us napping st the back on the break, and that was to be the difference in terms of the result. Many positives to take from the game including the performances and signings of Lewis Strafford and Matt Cruse.

We go into tomorrow much closer to full strength. It is no secret we have had defensive shortages and changes throughout the whole pre season programme so far. Noticeable absences in Jordan Jenkins and Craig Carby, whilst Matt Hall has chosen to return to my former club Leighton Town and trialist Temi Oladejo has been in hospital with tonsillitis. All three are back involved tomorrow.

They say you learn more about your team and players when you lose, and I just say that has certainly been the case this week. A couple of players tempted with big money moves elsewhere or not enjoying the new regime and the challenges and pressures we are putting on the squad, therefore we say goodbye to a couple and will take a look at three more new and experienced faces in tomorrow’s game.

This is a rebuild, and a fresh start and a completely new set up at the football club. There are now very few players left from last season, but we have nearly twenty new, hungry and committed players to get to know and to support.

We are positive in terms of the squad, but need to work on playing as a team, the philosophy we want to adopt and how hard we are prepared to work to win games and get results. All this will with time, and we look forward to the season ahead with optimism.
