Arlesey Town 1 Aylesbury FC 5

By

FC struck five goals past Spartan League Premier side Arlesey Town in sweltering conditions at Cedars school in Leighton Buzzard.

On such a hot day it was imperative that the side kept playing the possession football that has marked the new managements style of play and this they did against a spirited Arlesey side.

Five minutes in and the lively Harry Scott picked up the ball on the right edge of the box, cut inside onto his left foot but his drive was pushed past the post by the Arlesey keeper. From the resultant corner a free kick was awarded and Ryan Ware's cross was headed just over the bar by Jordan Jenkins.

Aylesbury took the lead on eleven minutes when this time a Jenkins header again from a free kick, this time from James McCarthy was nodded home by the big central defender. A deserved lead, Four minutes later though and the scores were level, very much against the run of play. A ball over the FC back four caught out the defence and Craig Carbys' touch wasn't enough to get the ball back to Bennion and an Arlesey striker nipped in and struck the equaliser.

That goal gave Arlesey some belief and they were coming back into the game, breaking up Aylesbury's passing football but without really being able to penetrate the FC defence. Aaron King was lively up front, holding up the ball well and creating chances and on thirty five minutes the big striker thought he had earned himself a penalty when he appeared to be hauled down in the box, only to see the referee wave play on.

Two minutes later he was again hauled back, this time thirty yards from goal, he immediately put the ball down and before the defence had time to arrange itself struck an amazing shot, perfectly placed which sailed over the keepers head and nestled into the back of the goal . FC extended their lead a couple of minutes later, Adam Morris's floated ball over the defence was pounced upon by Harry Scott and the pacey striker flicked the ball over the onrushing keeper and then calmly fired home for Aylesbury's third.

Wholesale changes were made at half time but the promising thing for Scott Reynolds was that if anything the second half side dominated play even more, playing the same style of passing, possession football, everybody seemingly comfortable on the ball. The foutrth goal came from a corner when a ball into the box caused confusion and an Arlesey defender, under pressure from the FC strikers, flicked the ball into his own net.

The fifth and final goal was scored by Harry Scott, some more excellent play by Aylesbury in the midfield eventually saw Scott pick the ball up on the left side of the attack, the striker cut inside onto his right and fired home for his second and another pre season win for The Moles.

The team now move on and travel to Leverstock Green on Tuesday eveing.
