Leverstock Green 2 Aylesbury FC 1

By

Another good run out for the Squad as Leverstock win by the odd goal in three.

Manager Scott Reynolds will be happy with the performance this evening, if not the result. With Craig Carby, Jordan Jenkins and Ty Deacon unavailable there was an opportunity to look at the rest of the squad against the Spartan Premier side.

It was the home side that started the quicker of the two with Jonathan Lacey having Leverstock's first effort of the night with a shot that went just wide in the 5th minute. Chris Blunden went even closer from a free kick just outside the box in the 18th minute. FC also had an early chance when a ball in from Luke Cray found Ryan Ware in space, but the tricky midfielder's first time shot was collected by Sam Szymck in the Leverstock goal. FC did take the lead though in the 21st minute, A Ware corner was met by Aaron King who's header gave the away side the lead.

Matt Hall's solo run after 35 minutes eventually ended in a shot which was cleared off the line by a Leverstock defender. The home side almost equalised just before the break when Tom Silford played a one-two with Lacey to go clean through on Nick Bennion, but the FC stopper came off his line and managed to scramble the ball away

Half Time Leverstock Green 0 Aylesbury FC 1

As ever the second half was effected by all the substitutions that both sides made and it was Leverstock who eventually made the most of those change. it was FC though who could have extended their lead almost immediately after the re start. Bruno Brito received the ball on the left side of the area and smashed the ball with the outside of his left foot but keeper Szymck pulled off a great save to tip the ball over the bar.

Leverstock equalised In the 52nd minute the Green scored a deserved equaliser. Alex Marsh, Shane Wood, Jonathan Lacey and Chris Blunden were all involved in the build-up before Lacey laid the ball off for Luke Preedy to slot home to make it 1-1. FC should maybe have had a penalty when Brito appeared to be pulled over in the area, but the referee awarded a free kick on the edge of the box which eventually came to nothing.

The home side took the lead In the 76th minute Jordan Goode struck the ball from 25 yards into the top corner of the net for what proved to be the winner. All in all a good workout for the side and we move on to face Daventry away at the weekend.
