Aylesbury U17s go out of Cup.
Aylesbury U17s were unable to keep their run of victories going when they faced a strong team from Exmouth.
After last weeks lacklustre defeat of Tadley Aylesbury knew they would have to play better against Exmouth previous winners of this competition in this South West Divisional semi final.
Aylesbury started strongly and Exmouth were driven back by the waves of Aylesbury attacks. Only five minutes had gone and Rickard was over for the first try. This domination continued for another five minutes before the visitors seemed to find their feet.
Gradually Exmouth started to control the ball and their retention was excellent and forced Aylesbury to concede a string of penalties. Brave defence was not sufficient as Exmouth drove over for two converted tries.
Aylesbury had a player sinbinned and constant ill discipline saw them hanging on at half time.
The second half continued in the same vain with Aylesbury struggling with the referees interpretation at the breakdown and continuing to concede penalties. One of these was converted followed by another short range try.
Despite the score Aylesbury started to move the ball and cause problems for the visitors. Quick recycled ball and quick hands saw the play move from deep in the Aylesbury half to the hands of White. From twenty metres out there was no contest and the prop powered over.
The comeback was short lived and Exmouth completed the victory with another short range try finishing the game 29 points to 10 winners.
Aylesbury will need to bounce back quickly when they face High Wycombe in the league next week.
