Bare bottle it
By Mathew Cook
Ingleton win a goon close game as promotion goes down to final game.
Stand in captain Nev lost the toss and Ingleton asked Bare to bowl on a drying wicket and decent afternoon. Good opening spells from Oz (2-34) and 2 for Cookie meant Ingleton were 36 for 4 off 15 overs. Hughes (13) the only one staying with Fleming to build a short partnership. Then an excellent mix of defence and attack saw an 83 partnership and 2 good half centuries from Kellett (59) and Fleming (52) until no tea maker Bhardwaj (2-39) turned to spin in order to stop the flow of runs. His second wicket with a quality reaction from Nev. What was looking like nearly 200 was tamed back as Cook (5-32) completed his 5th 5fer of the season with a good catch from Oz in the deep and a lbw/caught Mo effort! With Hoggworth (10 not out) seeing the overs out Ingleton posted a competitive 158/9.
After a good subcontracted out tea from Archy (aka Gill Leamon!) Kellett (4-28) turned from batter to bowler and ripped through the Bare top order. Sharman (16) and Burrows (19) only offering some resistance. Preston (2-38) bowled through and Bare looked down and out at 48 for 6. France (2-40) got in on the act but the overseas pros John (14) and Archy built a good partnership. After hoiking at a straight one it was a classy knock from Archit (52) and skip Nev that put on 54 for the 8th wicket and brought Bare close to the 158. Hughes (1-35) took a good return catch as Bare needed 13 off the last 2. An unfortunate result n out left Nev stranded on 32 not out and Bare 8 runs short in good, well played close game. 3 bonus points means it goes to the last game vs Shireshead 'A' next week at home.
