Pride Comes to Lancaster and Bare takes a slice!

The Carnforth weekend starts with victory over 'a.'

Another glorious day at Cross Hill Park brough the Carnforth 'a' lads in a Carnforth double header this weekend. Captain Coldplay won the toss again and elected to bat. After the rules were clearly explained it wasn't lomg before the Bare opening pare struck. Cook (2/22) bowled his 12 over spell with good line and leangth and White (4/43) a mixture of pace and movement also bowled his 12 over spell just shy of taking a 5fer with some interesting dropped catches. Dugdale (28) had a chamio in the middle order with some good catches from the captain and Mr Reliable Andy Jay. Smart fielding saw Nev without his spectators gain a run out and with Albon (2/16) taking a wicket in his frirst over removing the dangerous Baxendale (20) with a laid back catch from Archy, 82/8 was not looking a good score for Carnforth. A great parrnership from Woodend (24) and Barlow (29) made Bare suffer in the heat and the bowlers toil. But with more droped catches it was Janet proving again he has safe hands off the bowling of Bhardwaj (1/18). Another economical and fiery spell from Albon saw Carnforth set a respectable 130.
After a Mrs Peters tea (lovely on at that, as approved by Adi) Bare set out to bat without the longest name in the club. Bare got off to a good start but Sharman (17) was eventuallllllllly judged lbw off Blaxendale (1/28). With the wicket flattening, it was up too the sexy looking pair (lol) to steer the ship and pull the soul out of the Carnforth team. 74 runs were added by the pair until the other opener Cook (31) chipped up a Bradley (1/29) ball to Braxendale. Shweppsy taking Bare's first 50 of the season and eventually caught by Dixon for 67 off the bowling of Dugdale (1/7). Whisky drinker/smoker then tried to finish the game with a 6 but had to be remineded to run a second in order to win the game as the ball plugged! A great victory for the Bare boys who will find tomorrows Hackney & Leigh encounter with Carnforth 1st XI more troublesome knowing both openers scored tons today. Nev, have a good birthday do out with your 'friends' and look forward to seing you all next week for a hopefully early start vs BLS at home with a BBQ after with all members welcome (and the champions league final to watch too).
