Senior Lead Coach Role

By Mark Smith

Club announcement regarding departure of lead coach

Our senior lead coach, Andrew Appleyard, has informed the club that he is stepping down from his role to pursue an opportunity at a higher level in the league structure.

While we are sorry to lose Apple we are delighted at the progress in his coaching career and are proud that he has gone from strength to strength while at our club. I’ve really enjoyed working with Apple for the past couple of years and I’m very proud that he has been able to showcase his abilities while at Barnsley. I’d like to thank him for all he has done for Barnsley RUFC over the years and I know he will always proudly be a Griff!

We are now in the process of putting in place a successor for Apple and this is a great opportunity for someone else to take a lead role in coaching our ambitious club. More information will be announced as we work through that process.
