Barwell returned to winning ways after a comfortable three goal victory over struggling Colwyn Bay.
The home side dominated from the start and were good value throughout with their first clean sheet for 7 matches.
Barwell went ahead as early as the second minute when a mistake from away keeper Craig Ellison gifted the opening score to Alex Tomkinson who capitalised on a dropped ball to sidefoot into an empty net.
The Canaries had another good chance soon after when a Jamie Towers header went narrowly past the post and then a shot from Nathan Edgington was well blocked by Shaun Dowling.
Barwell continued to push forwards and were unlucky not to score again when a through ball from Brady Hickey was chased by Towers. He beat Ellison but his chip over the keeper went narrowly wide.
Colwyn Bay did have an occasional foray forwards but shots form Carl Lamb and Jordan Harper did not trouble Liam Castle in the home goal.
Owen Story got into the act but his shot from the edge of the box was well taken by Ellison.
Midway through the half, a Tomkinson corner found captain Richard Lavery on the far post from where he headed powerfully into the net to double the lead.
A free kick from Hickey from fully 35 yards tested Ellison as he dived to gather.
Just before the break, Barwell’s best goal of the game fell to Man of the Match Towers as he unleashed a thunderbolt from thirty yards that had Ellison grabbing air in the away goal.
The second half continued in the same vein and Edgington supplied a cross for substitute Trey Brathwaite who headed just over the bar.
Colwyn Bay’s best effort came in the 64th minute when Castle ventured outside his box to head away but a return lob from Jack Kelleher had to be cleared off the line by Joe Ballinger.
Barwell had the ball in the net on two further occasions but in each case they were ruled out for infringements. Firstly from Hickey who converted a Brathwaite corner but was deemed to have pushed Ellison in the buildup and then late on when Ryan Boothe fired in a Towers cross but was adjudged offside.
This win marked a return to form for Barwell who needed to break a recent winless run and by doing an international double over Colwyn Bay, they certainly came back with style.
