A late Brady Hickey header secured a narrow victory over local rivals Coalville Town
The Barwell top scorer nodded home Nigel Julien's cross in the final stages to seal a first win in six matches for the Canaries.
In an opening half of limited attacking opportunities, Lee Hildreth had Barwell's best effort, forcing Coalville goalkeeper Matthew Coton into a low save from the edge of the area.
Forward duo Massiah McDonald and Nathan Watson squandered chances for the visitors before the interval.
Liam Castle returned between the sticks for Jimmy Ginnelly's side, and certainly made his presence known after the break with several important saves to keep the scores level.
The goalkeeper rushed out to deny McDonald, who was through one-on-one, before tipping an Alex Dean's strike from a narrow angle around the post.
These proved important, though, as Barwell began to venture further forward. Luke Barlone cannoned a low left footed strike against the post following a curling shot flying inches wide.
Minutes after Watson struck the crossbar with a fine long-range strike for the away side, the Canaries found the deciding goal through skipper Hickey.
The midfielder rose well the flick Julien inswinging cross from deep into the bottom corner.
Hosts Barwell looked to double their advantage as the game began to open up, but Barlone fizzed an effort wide, while Hildreth tested Cotton with another shot on target.
The Canaries travel to Spennymoor Town on Saturday for the final match of the league season.
