Eagles sign new ‘keeper

By Roger Worsley

Please welcome Ashlee Jones.

We are pleased to announce the signing of Ashlee Jones. Ashlee has been at Vanarama National side, Braintree Town this season, and has also played in the Football League with Darlington. His other clubs include, Rushden & Diamonds, Wycombe Wanderers, Lowestoft Town and Chesham United.
Ashlee started his youth career at Southampton, and was in the squad that reached the the FA Youth Cup final in 2005, as he played alongside the likes of Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, and Adam Lallana.

Talking to bedfordeagles.net, manager, Jon Taylor had this to say.
Ashlee will be another piece in our jigsaw for the duration of this season and also next season’s campaign.
He is a ‘keeper that myself and Nathan (Abbey) highly rate, and he ticks all the boxes of what we want in a goalkeeper, and he has the experience of playing at the higher levels of the non-league pyramid.
At 31 years old, he will give us that vast experience, stature and athleticism between the sticks, and is rated at steps 1 & 2.
I am especially pleased that a player of Ashlee’s ability has signed for the Eagles.

Ashlee is quoted as saying, that he likes the club’s ambition and infrastructure, and can see why the Eagles have a good future to look forward to, and can’t wait to play for the Eagles.

Ashlee will be available for Squad selection for our match at Chesterfield tomorrow.
