First half goals from Joel Grant, Ryan Edwards and Gregg Wylde did the damage but Bideford gave a good account of themselves against the League One side and were unlucky not to get on the scoresheet.
The Robins actually had the first real chance of the game with Sean Downing’s low strike being saved well by Harry Burgoyne. Argyle took the lead on 17 minutes as Joel Grant shot on the turn expertly and found the bottom left hand corner. A second followed on 28 minutes as Ryan Edwards headed home from a great Lionel Ainsworth cross. Then three minutes later Gregg Wylde raced away after a quick Argyle counter to slot low past Steve Oliver. More worryingly for Bideford was the sight of Downing falling awkwardly and having to leave the field in some pain.
The Robins had a much better second half and were close to pulling a goal back on a few occasions. Substitute Joe Barker actually did find the net with a well controlled finish from a cross but was flagged offside. At the other end Ainsworth was causing lots of problems from the right shooting low into the side netting and also being thwarted by Oliver. The Robins stopper also denied Wylde with a really good save as Bideford kept Argyle at bay in the second period.
