BISHOP'S STORTFORD 0 v BIGGLESWADE TOWN 0
Report by Mike Draxler
The last time the teams met was 45 years ago in 1972. Glam rock was at its peak and I was a young man. There was not too much glamorous about this affair. A very hot afternoon, the hottest bank holiday on record. Yes you know, I am padding this out.
After the exhaustions against Hitchin last Saturday, the Waders looked tired. But true to wader players gave 100% to the end. No more than Robbie Parker who back in a more familiar role ferreting away in midfield. The whole game was about what might have been. Stortford certainly created chances but their lack of direction or height let them down badly when it seemed easier to score. Our own Jack Bowen hit the post and the bar with one dynamic shot whilst others has less spectacular efforts beaten away or going harmlessly wide.
Stortford are a work in progress a very young side making their way and suffering defeat by the odd goal. Look at the Waders who have equally got a young squad, sprinkled with the experience of the more senior players are proving hard to beat.
FA cup Saturday away to North Leigh in Oxfordshire. Always exciting these one off games. See you there. Up the Waders.
