Report by Mike Draxler
Creasey Park has never been the best of venues for the Waders, would New year's day 2018 change that? Indeed and with some ease as Dunstable, with their tails up after an away win Boxing Day at Banbury, failed to materialise as a real threat to the green domination.
The game never in doubt despite the cold, wind and a heavy storm an hour or so before kick off, the pitch looked good as Biggleswade took the game to the home side. Kaziboni and Penfold playing wide and causing problems with Jack Bowen chasing down the middle, certainly all a threat but no dividends. Big Gavin Hoyte encouraged up field for corners and free kicks came closest as the ball whipped across the area eluded his outstretched boot. On 32 with Big Gav at the back of the box, the corner looped in, Gav's header back into the fray found Jack Bowen whose neat flick put the Waders one to the good. Deserved? very much so as the Dunstable boys had not really troubled Sam Donkin between the posts for Biggleswade. Half time and respite from the cold just for a short while.
Out for the second 45 and Dunstable upped the game and early on should have done better when Andrew Osei-Bonsu went just wide with a stinging shot. Hall and Parker driving the boys forward as the Waders kept up the forward momentum and never really looked under too much pressure contained by the miserly defence. On 75 ring the changes as Burnett and Hicks replaced Bowen and Brooks. Hicks got into the game early and only added to the Dunstable woes. With Burnett having been on the pitch only 3 minutes a cross in from the right via Kaziboni found Magical Tony sliding the ball into the net to make the points secure. Dunstable never recovered from that goal and looked content to see the game lost.
Three Christmas games, 5 points with no defeat, we can take that. Up the Waders.
