BANBURY TOWN 1 v BIGGLESWADETOWN 1

By

CORAGEOUS WADERS.

Report by Mike Draxler

With Craigy D as stand in keeper for the second week you would think that Banbury would have employed the tactics of shoot on sight, and perhaps that was their plan. But, and you know there is always a But, the game plan from Chris Nunn and coach Bully Adams worked perfectly. Keeping the ball in the opposition half meant Craig had very little to do for the first 45. Greg Kaziboni teased and pleased the visiting support with runs down the wing. George Bailey, Liam Brooks and Jack Bowen backed up by Parker and Hicks in the middle of the park created a series of chances not taken. The boys in green could have been at least three to the good come the half time break.

The second period saw Banbury more aggressive and take the play up against Connor Hall, Reece Fielding, Lucas Perry and Tyler Walker, all stood firm with the defence standing tall repelling most that came their way. It took Banbury 62 minutes to get their first corner, which was then a series of four in a row. The pressure mounted as the first three were batted away. The goal came as Like Carnell got his head to a ball only partially cleared. More than Banbury deserved, certainly. Craigy D then pushed two shots over the bar to loud applause at his skill and ability in the keeper's gloves. Change, as Tony Burnett replaced Jack Bowen, Tony making a real nuisance of himself as he led the line. It was Burnett's run on 84 that opened up the defence and a real goal line scramble saw Parker put the ball away . No more than was deserved.

Even with a full side a point at Banbury would have been acceptable but this plucky side showed real character. At the end honours even but it could have been so different had the first half chances been put away.
Next game up against top 5 side Slough. Show this kind of form and an upset could be on the cards. Kick off 19.45 Tuesday 10th April at the Langford Road. Up the Waders.
