Buckingham retain the Golden Boot

Buckingham Cavaliers welcomed Winslow to Floyds Fields last Saturday to play the Golden Boot fixture. This was not played last season so it was great to continue this important fixture against local rivals and friends.
Torrential rain greeted the teams for the early kick off and a very competitive game ensued with no quarter given by either side and some of the hardest monster tackles drew gasps from the crowd throughout the game.
The weather suited the heavier Winslow pack and they drew the first score from a sustained driving maul. The conversion was missed but it was game on and a resolute and determined Winslow defence proved difficult to break down.
However as the changeable weather improved Buckingham began to use their agile backs in combination with fleet footed backrow players and scored two unconverted tries to take a lead into half time.
Winslow lost their most combative player to a head injury and were further handicapped by a sin binning in the second half and Buckingham added further scores topped by an unlikely conversion from Euan Prime to take the final score to 27-10.
Thanks to Chris Dicey for captaining the Cavaliers XV and all the players and supporters from both sides for supporting this fixture which was played in true local derby spirit which was entertaining and competitive throughout.
All at Buckingham wish Winslow RUFC every success in the remainder of the season.
