Concordia Soanes

It is with sadness that we report the passing of Concordia Soanes. Concordia's son Daniel played his rugby at Buckingham from under 7's until he left for University and during that time she was very much an integral part of the youth section. Concordia was also the age group Manager for a few years along with her husband Duncan.

Julian Scarr writes:

When many of our boys turned 12 they were unable to play for BRUFC due to their new school commitments. We found ourselves with a lack of players, but Concordia together with her husband Duncan set about organising coaching sessions with Yan Mallett and other coaches from BRUFC at St Paul's School in Milton Keynes. From these sessions we recruited 5 or 6 new players; Concordia and Duncan picked them up from their homes and brought them to training sessions and matches. They worked tirelessly to keep our age group going. Without their efforts we would have been unable to continue and the club would have lost an age group and a number of players who now feature in our senior teams, namely Ed Kinman, Charlie Gulliver, Wiggy Gurney, Josh Graham, Robin Petrie and Harry Scarr.

She was a selfless unassuming lady, loved by us all. She will be sorely missed.

Concordia passed away on the 16th December after a short illness.

The funeral was on Tuesday 9th January, at St. Bernadine's Catholic Church and after at Buckingham University where she worked.
