Marginal win for Wycombe

High Wycombe are now clear of the relegation zone after narrowly defeating a strong Buckingham side.
From the start it was clear that Wycombe had a point to prove and that they did not belong at the foot of the League table. The first five minutes saw Wycombe camped in their opponents half only for poor discipline to allow aBuckingham to clear their lines from a penalty.
Wycombe struck first with a try by Jake Blanton following a series of missed tackles in the wet conditions.
James aHulston kicked a good penalty for Buckingham’s first points but almost immediately following a ricochet from a clearance Matt Wardle crossed for the home side. The conversion was unsuccessful, however Wycombe scored two quick tries to push the score to 24-3 and the home side were looking to run away with the fixture before a scintillating backs move put Adam Clark over the line, the reliable Ed Kinman adding the extras.

Half Time 24-10

With the words of head coach Andrew White ringing in their ears Buckingham started the second half strongly and Ed Kinman slotted a penalty to chip away at the deficit. Matt Hawker baralled over the try line after a succession of line outs and the recovery looked on.A fine conversion by Kinman brought the score to 24-20.
Following a series of driving mauls and good ball retention Ollie Fennell-Wells scored for Wycombe as they registered their first points of the half, a successful conversion making the score 31-20.
Following a series of off sides Jak Cluness harshly received 10 minutes in the bin. This sparked a superb rear guard defensive fort and attack b img the best form of defence following a line our steal from Henry Larkin and driving maul Harry Scarr touched down the try bing converted by Ed Kinman. Score line 31-27 with ten minutes to go.
Both sides were chasing the win and Wycombe drew first blood scoring a converted try before Jak Cluness scored a converted try for Buckingham on his return to the pitch.

Final Score 38-34
