Edinburgh Cala Hockey Club heard the sad news last week that former member, Peter Bruce had died aged 86 after a sudden illness. Peter suffered a few health issues in recent years, but passed away peacefully at the end.

Father of five, Peter was one of the first members of the Edinburgh Civil Service hockey club - which was the forerunner for what is now our EHC men’s section – and captained the men’s 1st XI. Despite hanging up his shin pads a while ago, he still kept in touch with a group of veteran club members, known as ‘The Fogies’ for monthly lunches and chats!

Peter is second left, middle row.

Peter was a talented hockey player, a loyal stalwart of EHC, a true gent, and part of our club family. On behalf of the club, Colin has sent condolences and warm wishes to Peter’s family.

A celebration of Peter’s life which will be held at Corstorphine Old Parish Church on Monday 8 October at 4.30pm. All friends are welcome.
