Match Report by Ben Thomas
In the opening exchanges, both sides showed strong attacking prowess and an intent to win the game. The visitors created various chances which could’ve easily seen them go a goal up in within the first ten, the best being a powerful half volley which forced Boars number one Charlie York into making a fantastic reaction save. The Boars also created a few clear-cut opportunities and began to creep back into the game. Mo Davies looked dangerous on the right flank, however the slippery conditions were getting the best of him when making it through on goal, but the attacking pressure was mounting for Eversley.
The deadlock was eventually broken in the 32nd minute when Mo Davies nicked the ball from the toes of a Chessington defender, drove forward into the heart of the defence and slipped in an unmarked Brad Brown, who finished with composure in the bottom corner. When it came to half time it remained at 1-0 to the home side, but the weather conditions were continually making the pitch boggier and therefore more dangerous for the players.
In the second half the Boars were out of the blocks quickly, keen to double the deficit. In the 50th minute, Aaron Rowland played a neatly threaded pass through to Mo Davies on the right-hand side of the oppositions box, who looked up and squared to striking partner Brad Brown who again finished from close range, putting it through the away keeper’s legs and making it 2-0 to the Boars.
Just 3 minutes later however, the referee and his assistant officials decided to abandon the game due to the continuous downpour, which meant the pitch was too dangerous for play. This was highly frustrating for the team, who would’ve been delighted to be up 2-0 and in the driving seat for the remainder of a tough mid-table battle. This fixture will resultant be rescheduled; the result on Saturday having no influence on the replay.
