Good workout for both sides in their respective pre-seaon friendlies

Both CUP FC sides had a good workout in warm conditions in their pre-season friendlies on Saturday.

The 1sts hosted Whittlesford United, newly promoted to Senior A, at Cambourne 3G. The opponents took an early 2 - 0 lead, but CUP eventually got going and won comfortably in the end with a 7 - 2 scoreline. Jose grabbed a hat-trick and Dan a brace, with Phil and Bradley also on scoresheet.

The Reserves played 1A's Hardwick at Comberton VC 3G, which kicked off at 1.45pm. Hardwick took a 2 - 0 lead after less than 20 minutes, before a brace from Lee and one for Scott saw CUP go ahead. A late equaliser meant the match ended all square at 3 - 3.

There's no training this week with mid-week friendly action planned. The Reserves are at Comberton 3G once again on Tuesday 24th July, with Senior A's Orwell the opponents. The 1sts play fellow Kershaw Premier team Foxton in Round 1 of the Terry Wilson Memorial Trophy at Fulbourn rec on Wednesday 25th July, hoping to make progress in the competition.

Saturday sees the first matches of pre-season to be held at the Cass, with the 1st team playing Lakenheath at 1pm followed by the Reserves hosting Sawston Rovers at 3pm. The bar will be open and a BBQ set-up to help raise some money for the club.
