Ladies Awarded Runners-Up at GB Dinner

By Nick Freeman

PETER Grace, who will retire as one of the two North Midlands representatives on the RFU Council at next month's RFU annual meeting , has been honoured by Greater Birmingham.

Grace, who is stepping down after 16 years of outstanding service to the RFU, has had a new award for Greater Birmingham's Community Club of the Year, named after him.

The inaugural Peter Grace Award was presented to Birmingham Exiles and received from Peter by Andy Root at the recent Greater Birmingham dinner at the Eaton Hotel in Edgbaston.

Grace intends to continue helping to develop grassroots rugby in North Midlands and Greater Birmingham and at Five Ways OE, the club he played for.

The Greater Birmingham Team of the Year Award went to Edwardians in recognition of winning the North Midlands Vase and the Midlands Four West North league title last season. Edwardians president John Forster received the award.

Veseyans and Camp Hill Ladies were runners-up.
