The first half was devoid of few clear cut goalscoring chances. The best two came in the closing minutes of the half for the visitors. Ryan Wynter was a whisker wide after the home goalkeeper punched a corner away.
Then Wynter headed goalwards right on the whistle and keeper Michael Duggan got there a split second before Jake Lovatt.
Spalding took the lead 7 minutes into the second half when Josh Sedgley was adjudged to have fouled Jenk Acar and Gary King converted the penalty.
Chasetown sub Will Whieldon almost levelled the scores with a 25 yard free kick which rustled the side netting next to the angle of post and crossbar.
Spalding doubled their lead in the 79th minute with a Nathan Whitehead volley that wrong footed goalkeeper Curtis Pond.
