U10's @ Dorking in the sunshine

By

Super day for running rugby, when the squad realised there was 'space'!

Two squads travelled to Dorking RFC for there first venture at this festival, with teams from London, Sussex & Kent attending.

Reduced squad sizes due to injuries, illness, & holidays depleted the typically bursting squad sizes, but, for all those who did make it, a sterling performance was made. Also, thanks to all the 'Mum's' who could make it on Mothering Sunday - much appreciated.

The 'Experienced' squad only played three games, as Chobham (who entered 4 squads, arriving with only 16 players...), drew out of the last game of the day. With the Chi squad losing to a very 'enthusiastic' Tonbridge Juddians squad 2-0; 2nd game against Old Wimbeldonian Warriors was deemed a 0-0 draw, but, I am sure with a T.M.O. the 2nd placement of the ball over the try line by Chichester would have been claimed a legitimate try - not to be on the day though. 3rd game v Horsham.... the squad finally woke up, putting in a 5-0 winning performance... on realising they had width and so decided to use it with some excellent defence tackles going in - no tries conceded. Some great counter-rucking by Josh Ellis leading to a try, fantastic defence splitting runs by Oli Davidson, and bone crunching tackles by Jonah Hutchings on the day. Congratulations also to James Scriven-Wood, who was promoted to the 'Experienced' squad, due to feedback received from the coaching staff from previous weeks performances. The Chichester festival player of the day award going to Oli Davidson - well done and well deserved.

The 'Development' squad (Dorking terminology not mine!), lost there first game to Effingham & Leatherhead, winning against Esher, Old Whigitian's and finally Dorking. Some fantastic penetrating runs from members of the squad, Alfie Harris, Alfie Willis, Archie Ross, Alexander McBride, and with knee/ankle tackles coming from Yannick Mack..... who has only recently returned to the U10s from a season (and a bit) playing football - great work on the day. With the Chichester 'Development' squad festival player of the day award going to Yannick Mack - well done! Special mention also to Vittoria Agosti, who repeatedly listens to what the coaches are asking and then delivers on the ask... Vittoria is a credit to the squad!

Sunday 2nd April - we will be @ Pulborough RFC

IMPORTANT
All squad members have mouth-guards as required, BUT, I ask you ('Parents') that you all check the status of them, as it has been noted and seen that players are 'chewing' them and ultimately making there effectiveness useless! Which, as the level of intensity increases within the squad, the condition of the mouth guards must be fit for purpose. As such Squad members with 'moulded' mouth guards do not appear to have the 'habit of allowing the guards to 'hang out' of there mouths leading to the 'chewing' of them.
It is the Parents responsibility to ensure your child has a mouth guard in a suitable condition.
