I am delighted to announce that our club has completed today on our 30-year lease and FM agreement with the RFU for the construction and management of an Artificial Grass Pitch (AGP) at our club. It has taken almost 4 years to get to this stage and despite some delays we are coming closer to the day when we can open the pitch for our members and the wider rugby community. The project has been led by Bruce Finnamore one of the clubs non-exec directors and it has been very much his persistence and determination that has led to this day, the board, committees and members would like to thank Bruce for his hard work in delivering this fantastic project and opportunity for the club.
So now for the project timetable, the work starts on Monday and is due to complete on the 1st November 2019 with the first match planned to be played on it soon afterwards. We are planning an opening event with the RFU and we will provide more information on that closer to the event.
With the project continuing through the first 2 months of the season there will be some disruption to pitch availability and training, please bear with us and speak with your section chairs about where to play and train. You will also understand that with any construction project delays can occur and I will keep you updated on the project progress, also can I remind all members of the dangers associated with any construction project so please follow any temporary direction or warning signs as they are for your safety.
So Monday brings with it another development in the club’s future and only furthers our vision to become the leading amateur rugby club in the South West of England, I will continue to keep you updated as the project moves forward to its completion in November.
