Chippenham made the short journey to meet Swindon and kept their winning streak going, conquering by 12-64. Match report by Miles Davies

Chippenham made the short journey down the M4 to meet Swindon and looking at keeping their winning streak alive but the expected close and evenly contested local derby match never really materialised with the visitors taking home the bragging rights.

Chippenham came flying out of the blocks with real purpose and within 5 minutes of the kick off Number 7 Matt Dickens, Chippenham’s crossbreed winger/flanker went running over the try line to score the games first points after receiving a long pass from Charlie Palmer.

Moments later Matt was once again putting the ball over the try line after the Chippenham forward pack demonstrating their impressive handling skills to provide the ball to Matt on the wing securing the side’s second try.

Number 9 Tom “Rat Boy” Fogerty was next on the score sheet for the visitors. He finished off a quick break made in the centre of the park by Lewis Surry and Jake Unwin. Swindon at this point seemed rather shell shocked with the pace of the game but did manage to get their defence organised and stem the tide.

In the second quarter of the match, Chippenham’s forward started to rumble again - loose head prop Charlie Newman popped up out on the wing to score the next try. Jacob Unwin then scored a try under the sticks after receiving a sharp inside pass from Will Waddington. Lewis Surry, Chippenham’s Number 10 collected the ball from the back of the ruck “picking and going” to dive over the try line scoring the 6th try for Chippenham before the half time whistle.

Half time saw a change in the Chippenham team with Ed Hendy, Dan Wainwright and Miles Davies coming off the bench with the intention of injecting some further pace into the game and hoping to make a real impact.

The second half saw Chippenham keeping their foot on the gas with Jacob Unwin achieving his brace of tries after busting through the Swindon defence and securing the first points of the second half.

It was then Sean Johnsons time to bag a try and after some sharp passing, Sean was able to make his run for the try line almost uncontested.

Full back Will Waddington then showed what his size 8 feet can do dancing, in between the Swindon defence to touch down an impressive try. Will went on to score a second try after chasing and collecting a chip made by Jacob Unwin.

Swindon did get back into the game and managed to bag their own 2 tries taking the score to 64-12.

Next Saturday Chippenham finish off this years campaign with a home tie against Wimborne where they will be looking to avenge their 1 point loss earlier on in the season.
