Chippenham produce a complete team display to overwhelm St Brendan's

St Brendan's were stronger opposition than the 11-tries-to-none score suggests, but Chippenham U13s produced a simply brilliant whole-team performance to overwhelm them from the kick off.

Chippenham's defence locked St Brendan's out, saving a couple of sure-thing tries right on their own try line, and kept St Brendan's just going side to side for much of the time that they had the ball.

In attack, Chippenham were unstoppable. The forwards had a great game, protecting and recycling the ball as they moved up the pitch, often breaking tackle after tackle with superb power and determination up the middle. Take a bow, forwards.

And the forwards gave the backs lots of quality possession, which the backs exploited with an outstanding performance - probably their best of the season - using brains, hands and feet to move the ball fast to space and over the try line again and again. Their running, passing and kicking were delightful to watch. Take a bow too, backs.

Tries were scored by Austin (2) and Joseph (3) who both used their pace to devastating effect after good movement through the hands; Jammo and Toby Gray both got on the end of lovely kicks to the corner by Ed; Harvey caught a St Brendan's restart kick and ran straight back through them to score solo; Liam and Freddie got a try each as reward for their strength carrying the ball through the middle; and finally Oscar scored with a long distance run up the left wing.
