They dominated the game from start to finish and scored five excellent goals in the process. It took a few minutes for both teams to come to terms with the wind but the Bears handled it best. The early chances were all The Bears and Tom Morris had a header saved by the keeper from a Dean Warburton cross.
The opening goal came when Warburton picked the ball up outside the box, he hammered it low and the shot bounced over the diving Burgess in the home goal, 1-0. The home side tried to respond and Tinker hit a shot over the bar. They then won a free kick just outside the Bears box but the shot was easily held by Craig Ellison.
The Bears extended their lead on the stroke of half time. Rick Peters found John Main down the line and his pin point cross found the head of Billy Hasler-Cregg at the near post and he headed home 2-0.
The home side had the final effort of the half, Henderson hit a shot low but Ellison got down well to his right.
Half Time West Didsbury & Chorlton 0-2 Congleton Town
The home side almost got back into early in the second half when a shot from Woods cannoned back off the bar, but from then one it was more or less one way traffic as the Bears dominated.
Steve Foster tried his luck from distance which tested the keeper, before Bevan Burey made it 3-0. Hasler-Cregg played him in on goal with a perfect through ball and Burey finished well with a curling shot over the advancing keeper. The Bears then brought on Mini Adegbenro and Ryan Hibbert and almost immediately Adegbenro made it 4-0. This time Foster was the provider with a lovely ball into the box allowing Adegbenro acres of space to slot home for his sixth goal of the season.
Dec Fletcher then replaced Foster for the final fifteen minutes, adding more torment to the home defence. He almost got on the scoresheet when Adegbenro crossed but the defender cleared just as he tried to get a short away.
All the home side could muster were a few forays forward but nothing that threatened Ellison’s eighth clean sheet.
The final goal came deep In added time. Ryder cleared the ball up field and it eventually found its way to Fletcher on the edge of the box, he shrugged off the challenges of Brew-Butler and Burgess before rolling the ball into the empty net for his first strike of the campaign.
The full time whistle brought an end to a really strong Bears performance and the double over the home side after a 4-1 win a few weeks earlier at the Cheshire Silk 106.9 Stadium
