The game between GAP Nomads and Acton started like a rocket, if you blinked you'd have missed two goals.
The reds flew out of the blocks and won themselves an early corner, Iwan Rogers expertly whipped it in and it was met by the head of the towering Dominic Elsey-McHugh and into the net. 1-0 within 2 minutes.
Next real attack and it was a goal again from the same man as the first! Excellent play down the left between Ben James, Leon Doran and Liam Bruford enabled Ben James to cutely find Elsey-McHugh in the box with a perfectly timed ball. The pass took out 4 Acton players before it was slotted into the bottom corner.
You'd be forgiven for thinking that Acton would fall apart here and GAP would dominate, funnily enough it was the opposite. The second goal made the reds nervous and some good pressing from Acton stopped Nomads from exerting any control from the game. On the 15th minute Acton pulled one back from a set piece.
The ebb and flow of the game until the half was really in Actons favour, they had much the better chances and if it were not for Jordan Manley the scoreline would have been different going into half time. The reds still created chances after the Acton goal, but many were half chances compared to what Acton carved out.
The second half had a slightly different feel to the game, Actons tails were up but Nomads were also finding their rhythm. It was real end to end stuff in the second 45. Clean 1v1 chances were created by both sides and both keepers pulled off excellent saves to keep their teams in the game and the score down.
Nomads would get the third goal through Elsey-McHugh and James linking up again. The goal was truly magnificent, from back to front and about 30 passes at least the ball found its way to James, who spun his man and flicked the ball through for Elsey-McHugh. The one rushing keeper could not save the deft chip and watched the ball lift over him and bounce into the net.
A 4th went in soon after with Luke Woolley netting from close range into the corner.
Acton never gave up in the game and pressed on for goals, they hit 2 goals in the space of 3 minutes to make the last moments of the game slightly nervy for the home team. Acton were convinced they had a penalty in the 94th minute for their appeal to be waved away, in all fairness, where the 4th minute of injury time came from was anyone's guess!
There could have been tons more goals in this one and should the finishing been better/goal keepers been worse the score and result may have been different!

Man of The Match - Ben James
Ben was involved in much of the game today and worked tirelessly throughout, linking up well with Owen Manley and Iwan Rogers in midfield and creating two goals in the process. Both of his assists were excellent and were picked up by a delighted hat-trick hero today. More of the same in the next few weeks, GAP Nomads hope!
