Instead of training Nomads faced a tough test against their Flintshire neighbours Airbus.
The game started with an incredibly fast pace, Airbus scored after 5 minutes when a through ball was finished off nicely, then on 10 minutes Drew Hayes fed Hughes through, who was tripped in the box before he could get his shot off. Hughes saw his resulting penalty saved, only for him to convert the rebound and make it 1-1. 2 minutes later it was 2-1 to Nomads, after a miss placed Airbus pass Ben Williams spotted the keeper off his line and hit a brilliant first time effort over the keeper and into the goal, a fantastic strike from just inside his own half.
1 minute into the 2nd third and it was 2-2, good work again by the Airbus no.10 to turn the nomads defence and convert his chance.
Nomads were looking very dangerous going forward, Hughes leading the line well, however a real threat coming from McQue on the left hand side, putting in some great crosses and dragging out defenders with good movement and trickery.
On 25 minutes Nomads scored a fantastic team goal, the ball was worked out to McQue on the left wing who unselfishly fired the ball across the box, for Hughes to arrive and finish with his first touch to make it 3-2.
Airbus equalised again, only for that man McQue to notch up another assist, this time for Whittingham to make it 4-3 going into the final third.
A really fast paced entertaining game, Nomads having most of the possession, putting together some good moves both down the centre and from the wings, with Airbus sitting back, defending well and looking to hit Nomads on the break with some quick forwards.
The danger was always if Nomads didn't convert their chances, Airbus were always in with a chance, that proved to be the case in the last third.
Airbus equalised, only for Williams to set McQue up for a well deserved goal a minute later. With 15 minutes later Nomads were leading 5-4.
Nomads missed chances proved costly, as Airbus smashed in 3 goals in the last 15 minutes to win the game 7-5. 2 of the goals excellently taken on the counter attack.
A disappointing result, however a fantastic Nomads performance, especially the first 45 minutes.
Not only a fantastic nomads performance, a brilliant game of football to watch.
Man of the match was Ellis McQue, being heavily involved in all of Nomads good work, McQue had a huge influence on the game and was a constant terror all game long on the left wing.
