Under 18s away at Rugby Town next

By Sharon Taylor

Title challenge continues on Monday

On Monday evening, Coventry Sphinx Youth Team make the short trip to Rugby Town in the next league fixture in their chase for the league title. Last week, Coventry Sphinx U18s won at third place Leicester Road to maintain the pressure on leaders Barrow Town who also won on the same night.
Coventry Sphinx and Barrow Town both have six games to play in the league and just two points separate the sides at the top of the table. Barrow Town are scheduled to visit Sphinx Drive at the end of February so every match is critical in the run in. Over the last week Dan Kelly, Alex Pearson and Callum Mack joined the Birmingham County FA representative squad. Also, last week saw Dan Kelly, Alex Pearson and Mohamed Billy joined the first team squad for a friendly match at Coleshill Town. The development of the players within the Youth team has been impressive this season with the Youth team manager, Dave Bull, working closely with the first team manager, Lee Knibbs, to ensure the right decisions are made for the young players coming through the Sphinx ranks.
Competitive matches such as Monday night’s fixture at Rugby Town will only aid their development and we look forward to travelling to Butlin Road. If Sphinx can get a win then they will climb to the top of the table so they should have all the motivation they need. All support is welcome.
