Youngsters suffer heavy defeat

Glantraeth F C
The 2016-17 Welsh Alliance League Division One Champions Glantraeth were the visitors at Cae Stanley today and what turned out to be a comfortable victory for the visitors could have been oh so different. As in recent weeks the youthful Bont side started brightly with
Dion Davies forcing the visiting keeper into action after just seven minutes.
Player manager
Ian Pleming’s goalbound shot was well blocked by a covering Glan defender before
Guto Jones saw a header clear the bar.A chance then fell to Cian Hughes on the edge of the box however the midfielder screwed his shot wide, probably the best chance of breaking the deadlock for the home side fell to Gion Rowlands who saw his shot deflected just wide of the diving Mark Jones and into the side netting.
It took Glantraeth a full half hour before they fully tested home stopper
Darryl Edwards when a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area by Andy Clarke was pushed wide of the post, from the resulting corner
Josh Williams headed off the line to deny the visitors. With Clarke and strike partner Tom Hadley looking increasingly dangerous it was the latter who finally broke the deadlock, reacting quickly to a loose ball in the six yard box to give his side the lead. Five minutes later the lead was doubled when Clarke latched on to a through ball into the box and calmly slotted home, not content to sit back the visitors went in search of a third goal and on the stroke of half time a floated cross evaded full back
Josh Williams and Ben Roberts rifled the ball home.
Half time 0-3
There was very little in the way of clear cut chances in the opening twenty five minutes of the second period until after good build up play Glan thought they had extended the lead only for Tom Philp to clear off the line and the rebound was then fired against the cross-bar. Things did not get any better for Bont when Pleming was shown a straight red after a tangle with Ben Roberts that saw the Glan wide man pick up a yellow card.
A fourth goal was added when Edwards in the Bont goal sliced a back pass and Hadley gratefully slotted home from a tight angle to score his second of the afternoon, Dion Williams then further increased the lead with a strong right foot drive to the bottom corner. Edwards was again called into action producing an acrobatic save but after confusion in the home box Clarke nipped in to complete his brace. Bont did score a late consolation with substitute
Peris Tecwyn beating the off-side trap to square for
David Carl Jones who confidently rounded the keeper.
Final score 1-6
