Cropredy 6 - Yarnton 0

Cropredy's winning run is up to 6 games after beating Yarnton 6-0 on Saturday. The win sees them extend their lead to 7 points at the top of the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division. The latest victory was done in some style, manager Danny Fox described the win as "the best performance of the season so far". The 6 game run has seen Cropredy amass 31 goals of which 19 have been scored in the last 3 games!

The game against Yarnton was no different from recent weeks with the leaders starting the game in explosive fashion. In the opening minutes a Dan Reeves corner was spilt by the Yarnton custodian which Dan Watkin reacted quickest to smash the loose ball home and give Cropredy an early lead. That lead was doubled only moments later with Yarnton on the back foot, big centre forward Aaron Dineen turned the ball home from inside the penalty box. The third goal was the goal of the day as the Cropredy faithful were again being treated to another fine performance, a regular occurrence at the Williamscot Arena this season! Some great build up play leading to Dineen chesting the ball to forward Luc Thornton who volleyed home from the edge of the box into the back of the net to make it 3-0. On the stroke of half time Cropredy were awarded a somewhat dubious penalty after the referee felt a Yarnton player handled the ball in the box, the visitors however adamant it hit the player in the face! Once play resumed Reeves stepped up to sent the keeper the wrong way to give Cropredy a commanding 4 goal lead going into the break.

There was no let up for Yarnton in the second half as Cropredy once again started in dominate fashion. A quick passing move released Dan Reeves who slipped inside the full back on the edge of the box and dispatched a tidy finish into the bottom corner. The scoring was rounded off in the 75th minute when a dangerous Reeves cross evaded the hapless Yarnton keeper and left Chris Horn to head into an empty net and complete the 6-0 rout.

The first team face Yarnton again this weekend, this time away in the Oxfordshire Senior League.
