With the upcoming play off against Wimbledon RFC we take a look back at the previous playoff Dings had against Basingstoke RFC in 2002 to gain a place in the National leagues.
For the nostalgics amongst you the team that day on the 27th April 2002 away to Basingstoke was:
1. Scott Mitchard
2. Paul Fincken
3. Tevor Sealey
4. Mike Jefferies
5. Mike Welling
6. James Luck
7. Simon Knight
8. Vince Murrell
9. Jerry Westlake
10. Mark Woodrow
11. Darren Lloyd
12. Waylon Gasson
13. Gary James
14. Karl Venn
15. Mark Lucas
Rep:
16. Simon Watkins
17. Charlie Farley
18. Joe Fletcher
Coach: Bob Hesford
Physios: Fag Ash Knight and Noel 'witch doctor' Beresford
In an entertaining game Dings came up short and lost 29 to 13 after a long physical South West One season which Weston Super Mare won. There was a huge Bristolian contingent that day who made the journey which was greatly appreciated by the players.
It wasn't all doom and gloom as near enough the same team finished league winners the following season.
15 years on there could be a familiar name on the team sheet once again, well done fella!
The same support is needed, so clear your diary's and make the trip to Wimbledon to support the lads.
UP THE DINGS!
