Wimbledon 55 Dings 5

Dings went down by a massive eight tries to one at Wimbledon with the home side pretty much in charge from the opening whistle and with the slope and a stiff wind at their backs the home side lead 24-0 at halftime.

Any chance of a comeback from Dings disappeared early in second half when centre Marcus Brooker was red carded for a tip tackle closely followed by a yellow for No 8 Jake Holcombe. The outstanding home half back pairing of Rhys Morgan and man of the match standoff Bryan Croke were quick to spot and exploit the inevitable gaps in Dings defence to take their score past fifty points and promotion to National Two South for next season.

Wimbledon opened the scoring in the second minute with a fortuitous try from skipper and lock Dylan Flashman when a lineout steal by Dings Gavin Curry bounced straight into his hands and he charged over from the twenty two, Croke added the conversion

After a Croke penalty on twelve minutes he the added the home sides second try on twenty minutes slicing through the Dings defence to touch down under the posts and added the conversion.

Dings got into the game in the second quarter with centres Sylvan Edwards and Marcus Brooker along with No 8 Jake Holcombe running hard at the home defence but failed to create and real try scoring opportunities and in the dying minutes of the half home scrum half Morgan broke from the base of a ruck for the home sides third try and a halftime score of 24 unanswered points.

Five minutes into the second half came the Brooker red card which whilst probably not affecting the result certainly affected the score as the home side exploited the inevitable gaps in the Dings defence. Depleted Dings put a stern effort in defence but tries followed from Flashman, Croke wing Dan Cheers, No8 Roy Godfrey and full back Mat Gilbert.

Dings solitary score came from replacement prop Josh Lloyd on seventy minutes to complete a hard afternoon for the Bristol side.
