Dronfield 's heady ambitions were left floundering in the mud, as a well drilled Matlock side and the wet pitch stopped Dronfield's attacking style. Matlock set out their style of play early with a pack drive which Dronfield did well to stop.
On 7 minutes Dronfield scored the try of the game when a sharp break by half backs Jake Steade and Alex Arch, with nice inter-passing put Captain Matt Hale through to score a try.
That was as good as it got for Dronfield though with Matlock adapting their game plan to the pitch conditions much more effectively to run in 4 tries before half time and another 3 after. Best move on and confine this one to the archives. Next game Coalville at home
