Sad news - Bernard Gueusquin, a Chalons giant

Bernard Gueusquin, a giant in the link between EKRFC and Club Olympique de Chalonnais sadly passed away this week.

Bernard, a former President of COC and an Honorary Vice President of EKRFC, was one of the first Chalonnais to visit EK. He played a strong role in promoting the link from its inception in 1981 and organised many visits to Scotland, and the programme for EK's visits to Chalons.

Such was his commitment to the link that his plan to attend our AGM one year was only thwarted when the Icelandic volcano erupted, spouting clouds of ash across Europe and prompting the cancellation of Bernard's flight!

Bernard was a true champion of rugby, and our twinning arrangement and is a huge loss. Fortunately the Gueusquin link with EK will continue with Bernard's son Vincent and his son in law, Patrice contributing to the organisation of the 2018 COC visit to EK.

Our thoughts are with his wife Josieanne, family and all of COC.
