Wymondham Town 4 Easton 1

By

No giant killing this year as 2 reds sink us at Wymondham

When you draw a side that won Division 1 last year and currently sit second in the Premier Division you don't want a make shift side but so it came to be as we travelled to Wymondham missing Al, Aggy, Ian, Raffa and Jordy.

Hayden again dropped in to help out at centre half with Rob replacing Ian on the right. Danny was also absent from last weeks win at UEA so Jahi returned to the starting XI in his place.

Wymondham started the better and could have led inside the first minute when Baz saved superbly from Rocastle and Hayden cleared a goal bound effort with his head from the resulting corner.

We weren't moving the ball quickly enough as the half wore on and the hosts work rate kept us on our heels but there were no real clear cut opportunities until a superb free kick into the area allowed Armes a free run at the ball and his header found the top corner for 1-0.

10 minutes later it was 2-0 as a free header in midfield allowed Mace a free run at Baz and after rounding the Easton keeper he was brought down for a penalty and Baz saw yellow. Armes stepped up to send Baz the wrong way and double his goals for the day.

There was however time for a final talking point in the half as a through ball found Matty F in on goal and an awful looking tackle from the home keeper left the Easton man with some nasty cuts on his ribs and arm but the man in the middle only saw fit to book the keeper. Wheeler however did add to the punishment as he dispatched the free kick over the wall and into the top corner to make it 2-1 on the half time whistle.

HT 2-1

We felt well in the game at this point and started the second half at pace. We first forced a couple of corners that were well dealt with by Wymondham before Jahi saw an effort from distance fly wide on the turn.

10 minutes into the half the referee was again at the centre of the action as Baz flew off his line and headed the ball into touch before colliding with the home striker however the man in black saw fit to show the Easton keeper a second yellow and a red and Lewi was sent off in the aftermath for something said.

Chris came on from the bench to take his place in goal but despite getting a strong hand to Armes' second penalty of the day he couldn't keep it out and 3-1 with 9 men was always looking tough.

The 9 men worked tirelessly as time ebbed away but couldn't find a way to reduce the arrears and to add insult to injury Wymondham added a 4th minutes from the end to seal the win.

FT 4-1

Couldn't be more proud of the effort shown by our group of players today. Up against it in more ways than one but still worked their socks off for the cause. In my humble opinion if they big decisions get called the right way it could have been a different story but we'll never know. Back to league action next week as we travel to Bungay for a 2.30 kick off.
