Bungay Town 2 Easton 1

First league defeat of the season as chances go begging.

A threadbare First Team made the trip to Suffolk to take on a Bungay side who's only defeat of the season so far had come at table toppers and high spenders Mundford.

With Baz, Lewi, Ian, Raffa, Wheeler and Swatty all sidelined for one reason or another there was some serious reshuffling to do but we could still field a competitive looking side which just shows how far we have come.

The game kicked off in perfect conditions for football and the game quickly settled into a pattern that remained for most of the game with the hosts having the majority of the ball but us looking threatening on the counter. Bungay were the first to have a half chance when a deep corner was headed wide. Our first effort of the day brought the first goal of the day though, Jahi broke from midfield and found George with a perfect slide ball and the Easton front man made no mistake as he produced a superb ship over the Bungay keeper and saw the ball nestle into the far corner. Jahi then had a golden chance to make it 2-0 as a cut back found him with almost an open goal but he snatched at his effort and the keeper touched to safety.

The lead then evaporated shortly after as Bungay won a corner 15 minutes later and with the Easton back line not organised quickly enough a header back across goal was bundled for 1-1. Bungay then had a good spell of pressure before HT but couldn't add a further goal.

HT 1-1

The second half began with Bungay again on top as they piled on the pressure high up the pitch but despite this there was very little in the way of goalmouth action. The first 20 minutes of the half flew by with no real chances of note but the game really started to hot up with 25 to play.

First George got his head to a ball fired across goal but couldn't direct his header on target with the goal gaping before Danny broke and almost produced a superb finish but was thwarted by the keepers finger tips. The big talking point of the half came when Matty H cleared for a corner before tangling with a Bungay stiker who pushed the Easton man in the face but only saw yellow.

From the resulting corner Chris saved well but conceded another corner which saw the same Bungay stiker head home from 8 yards with 10 mins to play. Just minutes later the same front man (again) clashed with Matty H (again) and received his marching orders.

There were still another two chances in the dying minutes as both Sags and George couldn't find the net when well placed
