We started well in our Hampshire division 1 fixture at home to Fareham when centre Lex Dakuwaqa (pictured), finished a good try in the first five minutes of his home debut. At this point we were dominant, but a loss of concentration and a missed tackle led to Fareham scoring a good try out wide to level the score. After a period of sustained pressure our centre Josh Butcher kicked a penalty to regain the lead, but another missed tackle led to Fareham scoring a try under the posts, which they converted. Fareham then scored another try to open up a 17-8 lead, but our full back Chris Frost scored a good individual try close to half time, which Butcher converted to leave us trailing 15-17 at the break.
We took a 21-17 lead early in the second half when Butcher kicked two penalties, but Fareham came back strongly with a fourth try that they converted and a penalty to open up a 27-21 lead that they held until full time, to earn an away bonus point win.
