FIVE MEMBERS OF IGNATIANS' YOUTH ACADEMY GAIN COUNTY CAPS

It was a day when the Ignatians' young blades really showed their mettle and, in the green corner, captain Ethan Renny, Ben Mills and Cairo Sango, all made valuable contributions to the Hertfordshire U20s side which gave their Middlesex counterparts a 63-3 drubbing.

It is worth reflecting that the trio are all valued members of the first fifteen squad and it's a vindication of the club's policy of promoting homegrown talent that the most promising prospects are also encouraged to showcase their talents on the county stage.

Steve Renny who watched the game said: "As the scoreline suggests, the game, played over four quarters of 20 minutes, proved to be a one-sided affair with Hertfordshire dominant in all areas of the game. All three players made an impact which was great to see."

Affiliated to Hertfordshire, Ignatians also remain members of Middlesex and, in the blue and white of the latter county, Kian Linnane and Ethan Robinson also got a taste of the next step-up in the U17s side that went down to a strong Eastern Counties outfit.

Steve Renny added: "Both players showed those good Ignatians' virtues of never giving-up. I'm proud of the fact that both players have really stepped-up since becoming senior academy players."
