Fillongley Sat 2nd XI vs Nuneaton 3rd XI 07/05/2016
What a difference a week can make. Following a resounding loss last week, this week was followed up by an equally resounding victory.
Captain Cook is renowned as a top tosser and duly won the toss again and inserted Nuneaton 3rds in to bat. Moving to 42-0 without much alarm, the slow bowling twins Sladey and Skelding, then devastated the Nuneaton batting to dismiss the opposition for 89. Skelds took a PB of 6 for 18 and Sladey 4 for 12 (or thereabouts). Their fine bowling was assisted by some decent catching (even JK turned up in time to take a catch, and BT seemed to dislocate a finger taking his) after a couple of early missed catches looked to have cost us.
Pro raced to 40 off 5 overs and finally reached his 50 when hitting the winning runs. He was ably supported by Jeff Lee who survived a few run out attempts by Pro and in between showers, they completed a 10 wicket victory.
