Things Can Only Get Better!!!

Fillongley Sat 2nd XI vs Kenilworth 2nd XI 30/04/2016

The start of the league season started in the best possible way when Captain Cook unexpectedly arrived on time, ready to steer the ship. That was the highlight of a very disappointing day.

A toss won allowed us to bat first, assuming that this would be best with the inclement weather. We lasted no more than 26 overs scoring only 58 runs. With only 2 double figure scores it would suggest the pitch and bowling were both suitably spicy. The bowling was good, but the pitch was perfect and the score was so inadequate that even the travelling fans were not expectant of a surprise victory. The only positive was BTs batting.

The bowling and fielding duly followed the batting example and Kenilworth knocked off the runs for the loss of 2 wickets so that we were finished before most other sports matches had even begun on the day.

Thanks to everyone who turned out, these things never happen on purpose and we'll look to be positive and bounce back next week. In the words of D:Ream, "Things can only get better"
